Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
Building a Global Health Workforce that Reflects the Diversity of the American People
USAID is on a mission to build a workforce that reflects the diversity of the American people. GHTP assist this mission by developing and recruiting global health talent. Our focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion underscores our support of technical professionals, USAID, and global health.
We advocate for inclusion by partnering with Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs) and other organizations through high impact career fairs, information sessions, webinars, and other virtual events. These efforts help ensure the viability of global health careers for historically underrepresented These efforts serve to strengthen and deepen the range of global health talent and expertise available to USAID.
We also incorporate current Technical Professionals in our outreach efforts so that they can share their unique career paths with underrepresented students and alumni across the country. The individual experiences of our Technical Professionals are often the strongest form of outreach for those interested in global health careers.
Our efforts to foster and support diversity and inclusion do not end at the point of recruitment, however. As new Technical Professionals join the program, they can join a robust mentorship program where they can be a mentor or receive mentorship based on affinity group. We know that active involvement in affinity groups can help Technical Professionals adjust and feel supported in their daily work at USAID.
