Future Global Health Leaders
Through their own lived experiences and academic interests, many students possess key skills needed for a career in global health. We seek to capitalize on this unique moment in students’ lives, investing in them early and ensuring they are excellent candidates for opportunities at USAID. We achieve these goals through our Future Global Health Leaders (FGHL) Program, launched in September 2019, which builds upon our collaboration and information session model with academic institutions by expanding the global health resources we make available to students.
The FGHL Program was designed to help build a pipeline of future global health professionals for USAID, global health implementing partners, and bi- and multi-lateral organizations by exposing undergraduate and graduate students at academic institutions with a public/global health program focus (but not always a degree) to unique career resources. Through dissemination of our FGHL toolkit, quarterly webinars, and office hours, GHTP staff work closely with academic institutions around the country to instill an early interest in the global health field and connect potential global health professionals with one another through a virtual network.
The FGHL network has expanded to almost 350 students who have successfully used our webinars, office hours, and other resources to advance their careers. We invite you to join this network here: http://bit.ly/FutureGH.
